Dr. Carr can help you break this cycle with sedation dentistry at our Hemet and Temecula dental offices. You can finally get the quality care you need, and our wide range of sedation methods can be customized to your individual anxiety level.

Who Benefits from Sedation Dentistry?

The source of dental anxiety is different for everyone. Sedation dentistry can benefit you if you:

  • Have fear or anxiety about dental visits
  • Have difficulty getting numb
  • Hate shots and injections
  • Have sensitive teeth
  • Have a strong gag reflex
  • Have extensive dental work planned
  • Have trouble keeping your mouth open for long periods

Trust a Certified Sedation Dentist

Dr. Carr is trained and certified to deliver safe, comfortable sedation dentistry. With his training and experience, and the assistance of our anesthesia specialist, he can offer comprehensive sedation services, including general anesthesia.

Nitrous Oxide

Commonly referred to as “laughing gas,” nitrous oxide produces pleasant, happy feelings that last throughout your appointment. Since it is a gas, you inhale nitrous through a small nasal mask. You’ll feel drowsy and relaxed, and you can still communicate with us. We will monitor you to ensure that you receive the right level to keep you calm and comfortable.

Shortly after we stop the flow of nitrous, your mind will clear, and you can safely drive yourself home from your appointment and carry on with the rest of your day.

Oral Conscious Sedation

With oral sedation, Dr. Carr prescribes a relaxing medication for you to take an hour before your appointment. You will need someone to drive you safely to and from our office, and by the time you arrive, you will already feel calm and relaxed. You may even drift off during your appointment, but we can easily awaken you if needed. Many patients don't remember much if anything about their appointment afterward.

IV (Intravenous) Sedation

Administered by an anesthesia specialist at our dental office, IV (intravenous) sedation puts you in a semi-conscious state. We can communicate with you as needed, but you won’t be aware of much of the activity around you or remember details afterward.

General Anesthesia

If you have extensive dental work planned or have tried other sedation types that weren’t effective, we bring general anesthesia right to our doorstep. Our anesthesia specialist is trained and licensed to safely administer general anesthesia at our Hemet and Temecula dental offices. General anesthesia will put you in a deep sleep, and you won’t remember anything that happened.
